• Notes

  There is something of a mystery about Mattie's husband at the date of her death, however. She married Andrew Fullen Moore (who presumably is the "A.F." shown in the photo of her gravestone). However, it is widely published that Andrew, a Confedeederate soldier, died as a prisoner of war in 1864 ? yet, two children are attributed to him who were born after that date (1867 and 1874). One book on the Rosenbalm family says that he died in 1864, and that Mattie remarried but it does not give t the name of her second husband (and I have been unable to find her in the 1870 census, which might fill a lot of blanks). This gravestone might be an indicator that he did not, in fact, die in prison but returned home and died later (after 1874, when the youngest child was born).
